Raksha Sule

Raksha’s work is grounded by learning with and from communities; facilitating spaces and moments to turn inwards; and welcoming what is sacred to cultivate compassion, joy, and inspiration for transformational healing.

As a practitioner-educator-researcher, she holds expertise across mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS), education, social innovation, peacebuilding, and child and youth empowerment; and has been invited to consult for organizations such as the United Nations (UN) Inter-Agency Standing Committee (IASC), the World Health Organization, and the Inter-agency Network for Education in Emergencies. She has worked in settings such as Canada, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Egypt, Iraq, Kenya, Myanmar, and Ukraine. She is especially passionate about, and specializes in, the prevention and reintegration of children associated with armed forces/groups.

Most recently through the UN IASC Reference Group on MHPSS, Raksha co-led a global initiative across 30 countries to conduct a mapping and provide recommendations on integrating MHPSS and peacebuilding in areas of armed conflict.

Raksha holds an M.Sc. in Global Health from McMaster University, Canada; and an Ed.M. in Education in Emergencies from Columbia University, USA.

As someone with lived experience, Raksha is most grateful to those who have supported her healing and spiritual journey, including the many grassroots leaders and community members who inspire her daily with their creativity, courage, and compassion.
